Advisor Khan reviews functioning of One Stop Centers for women

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, today reviewed the functioning of One Stop Centres for Women in Jammu and Kashmir in a meeting held at civil secretariat.

Principal Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Bipul Pathak, Managing Director, ICPS, Shabnam Shah Kamili, Officer on Special Duty, Mohammad Ashraf Hakkan and representatives of One Stop Centers along with other senior officers of Home and Health departments were present in the meeting.

MD ICPS gave a detailed Power Point Presentation highlighting the working of these vital centers as well difficulties being faced by them while performing their duties.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor said that OSCs have been established with an aim to help and support the women affected by violence in private and public spaces, within the family, community or at workplace. He added that the main objective of these entities is to facilitate immediate, emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services including medical, legal, psychological and counselling support under one roof to fight against any form of violence against women.

These centres have been established throughout the UT under centrally sponsored scheme of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development wherein the victims can seek help in filing FIRs besides legal, psychological, moral and medical support, he further said.

Advisor emphasized the need for proper and effective coordination between the converging departments like Police, Health, Social Welfare and Law to ensure emergency response and rescue services to the women in distress.

Exhorting all stakeholders to work in synergy for successful functioning of the Centre, Advisor assured every possible assistance for making the Centre more effective, robust and vibrant. Moreover, he directed for providing qualitative services for successful operationalization of the Centre.
