Sources said that a large number of people including women and children of Ahmed Nagar – Soura hit the streets on Tuesday, and blocked the 90ft road for some time to register their protest against the unscheduled power cuts in the area.
They said due to the blockade of the road hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the highway for some time.
Protesting people were shouting slogans against the power development department (PDD) and alleged that people of the area are facing hardships from the past several weeks. They said the area is metered but continued cuts irk the residents of the overall area.
“We have to bear with long power cuts during the day. Power supply remains affected for hours together during the day, this has now been a norm for the past one month,” said Shameema, a local resident.
Later a team of officials reached the spot and assured protesting people that they will forward their grievance to the concerned authorities.
