vital road from Aali Masjid to Aiwa Kadal in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district is in dilapidated condition for years now and authorities are watching the sufferings of the people as mute spectators, locals said on Tuesday.
“Dust has engulfed the households living on the roadside on these hot days and dust is what welcomes us nowadays,” said a resident, Umar Ahmad. He said that the road is of vital importance as patients’ are shifted to SKIMS for emergency care via the road; however, authorities have neglected it.
“The authorities have almost abandoned the road,” locals of Aali Masjid said. “The road has been left in derelict condition; driving is a hell on this road,” they added.
“Everyday we see patients being shifted to Soura but they have to undergo the ordeal of arduous journey of this road,” residents of Aali Masjid said.
As per the locals, the road has developed potholes that have become prone to accidents in the area. The department has not repaired the road for the past 2 years.
Showket Ahmad, a local resident of Aiwa Kadal said, “Thousands of people suffer as the road is in shambles. Authorities have failed to macadamise the road. It has developed huge potholes and has become unbearable for people to travel on this road.”
As per the locals the road is dusty. At various places the shopkeepers and residents sprinkle water on the road.
Many residents attribute the condition of the road to the lack of coordination between the departments.
“We request LG led administration to bring this road under any plan for carrying out the resurfacing so that people wouldn’t face more problems due to the bad condition of this road,” another resident from the area said.
