An austere American bride with her newly married husband were featured in Good Morning America for throwing one of the most unique wedding parties in the age of social media. There is a commercialization of weddings these days and destination weddings are common but the couple Kiara and Joel Brokenbrough are such came up with budget-friendly approach to plan their minimalist wedding.
The couple even made their guests pay for their own meals. Talking about it, Kiara said, “Our goal was to just be as minimal as possible and to spend the least amount of money as possible.”Very few couple can envision this kind of frugal wedding where the guests support their demands. Two things they did to cut cost of the wedding was by finding a location that they didn’t have to pay for. They held their weddings just off one of California’s freeways. Kiara showed off the photos on the Instagram and says that just because a venue is free doesn’t mean that it’ll look ugly.
The other way was very unique and quite demanding because these days nobody go to weddings to pay, they go to have free food. The couple made guests pay for their own food and drinks and fortunately guests including their friends and family supported their dreams of having a frugal but beautiful wedding.
If you put things in perspective, national average for total costs of weddings in the America amounts to around $30,000 per wedding but Kiara and Joel pulled off their wedding by spending just $500.
Kiara only spent only $47 on her bridal gown from the famous fast-fashion brand Shein and proudly showcased her gown on social media.Kiara explained, “I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a dress because I had the mindset I’m gonna wear this one time for a few hours. You have a wedding, with witnesses there to witness you, vowing to your spouse, vowing to God that you guys are going to stay together for llif.”
Eventually, Kiara’s aim was to send a message to everybody that the goal for any couple isn’t necessarily to have a lavish wedding but have a good marriage. Even when some people found their antics weird but newly wedded couple stuck to their philosophy of frugal wedding.
