Baramulla Police recovers kidnapped girl, accused arrested

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday claimed to have recovered a kidnapped girl and have arrested the  accused person.

In a statement issued, a police spokesperson said, “On 15th December 2020, Police Station Tarzoo received a complaint from an individual resident of Hugam that his 17-year-old daughter has been kidnapped by one person namely Lateef Ahmad Dar son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar resident of Hanjipora Hygam.”

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 119/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Tarzoo and investigation was initiated.

A special team headed by SHO PS Tarzoo while acting on the specific leads were able to recover the kidnapped girl and arrested the kidnapper from Hajin Bandipora area within 48 hours. He has been shifted to PS Tarzoo where he remains in custody, the statement said.

Adding that after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl was handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress.

The statement further reads, “Swift action by police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals. Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood. They can share information pertaining to social crimes with police. We reassure the community members that our efforts in curbing social crimes shall continue.”
