Post mortem report has confirmed the death of an elderly man in Chanapora Srinagar has occurred due to assault. Police produced the challan in the court of law and accused has been sent to Srinagar Central Jail.

Pertinently, in August this year, a bank employee was accused of murdering a 65 year old man Abdul Majeed Baqal, a resident of Mini Colony Chanapora.

Pertinently, Sadaf Baqal, the daughter of the victim had said that one Waseem Ahmed alias Jimmy assaulted her father badly and he sustained grievous injuries resulting in his death after a few days in the hospital.

“It was an immaterial issue. My elderly father was cleaning the gate of the house, while sprinkling water on the gate, some droplets touched a pedestrian (girl), who is our neighbor. She accused my father of ruining her dress and called his brother Wasim alias Jimmy. Jimmy, without listening to the version of my father and ignoring apologies from me and my father, assaulted him badly. My father fell on the ground and was dying with pain. I was requesting Jimmy with folded hands to let him go but drunk with pride, he didn’t stop and continued to hit him. When we cried, some neighbours intervened and we shifted him (my father) to hospital. After a couple of days, he died,” she was quoted as saying by KNT.

A police official told KNT that the accused has already been shifted to Central Jail. “We produced a challan against him after receiving post mortem report,” the official said.

Pertinently, the accused who is a Bank employee has already been suspended from the service.
