As per the police, the victim, who was about 14 years old residing in Kapsar village of the area, was returning home after her tuition, late Thursday evening. Meanwhile, four youths from the same village ‘abducted’ her and took her to an isolated building nearby. The youths subsequently gang-raped her.

After telling her family about the incident, the girl ‘consumed a poisonous substance’, which led to her death.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Keshav Kumar said that a suicide note has been recovered from the victim’s house which accused Lakhan and his three friends of rape. Based on the note, a case has been registered against four people, including the main accused Lakhan. Lakhan and Vikas were also arrested on Friday.
