large number of people residing in Badroo – Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district are at receiving end as they are getting contaminated water supply for the past few days.
Fearing an outbreak of water-borne disease, residents of the area have urged the Jal Shakhti authorities to rectify the problem as soon as possible.
“Few years back the department had laid the pipes through nearby canals and streams, and unfortunately, the water coming from the canals and streams through these pipes is full of dirt, causing inconvenience to our locality,” said Bashir Ahmad, a resident of said village.
Another resident, Abdul Rasheed while talking to the Good Morning Kashmir said, “The drinking water supplied through the pipeline seems to have been contaminated with sewage. Though we have informed the concerned department several times, unfortunately no step has been initiated to address the problem,” he said.
“The people of the area are suffering immense hardships due to non-availability of pure drinking water supply,” Rasheed added.
Meanwhile, the residents have urged Lt Governor administration to intervene in the matter so that their grievance will be addressed at the earliest.
