Defunct electric transformer sparks protest in Achan Syedpora

The inhabitants of Achan – Syedpora area of Srinagar in Central Kashmir’ on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration and demanded repair of a damaged transformer in the area.

Residents while blaming the administration for not attending to their grievances, resulting in them being without electricity for the past two weeks.

“Despite requests, the authorities are not paying attention to our problems,” locals said.

According to the residents, the low capacity transformer installed in the area develops frequent snags. “The people have to spend weeks in darkness as PDD takes several days to repair the fault,” the locals said.

Farooq Ahmed, a local inhabitant told this newspaper that several times we residents have brought it into the consideration of the concerned department but unfortunately no concrete step was taken.

They requested Chief Engineer PDD for his immediate intervention for the redressal of their problem and to restore electricity supply supply in their area.
