istrict Youth Services & Sports Srinagar on Saturday organized ‘Fit India Cyclothon’ in Srinagar which was joined by the local cycling association and the people of the Union Territory.
Fit India Cyclothon is part of the FIR Run being observed to promote fitness among people.
District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal flagged off the event from Nehru Park Srinagar at 8:00 am. After passing through Boulevard road, the cycling event culminated at Nishat Garden Chowk. Around 195 Boys & Girls participated in the cycling event under 4 categories.
In the recent past as well, Fit India has organised numerous big-scale events such as Fit India Plog Run and Fit India Cyclothon to take the message of fitness to the masses.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Shahid Iqbal encouraged the young participants and also applauded the role of Youth Services & Sports Department.
At the end of the cycling event, a closing cum facilitation ceremony was conducted at Nishat in which the position holders were facilitated with trophies and medals.
Speaking at the closing ceremony District Youth Services & Sports Officer Srinagar Balbir Singh highlighted the need of such events in order to inculcate a sense of fitness and to indulge in sports activities regularly.
