n a digital era, the two famous tourist places in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district are still lacking mobile connectivity and ATM services, due to which the visitors always remain disconnected with the rest of the world.
The locals from the area said that both the places, Yousmarg and Doodpathri, have no mobile tower and ATM machine which results in tremendous hardships to those who visit these spots.
The residents from Yousmarg side blame the government for being unable to provide the facilities like good network coverage and ATMs, “visitors always feel bored here as they complain about telecommunication problems, and lack of other facilities,” they said.
“If the tourists here need money, they have to come down fifteen kilometres to use an ATM,” he added.
“It is not necessary that the Covid-19 virus is still going on and people will not come here but the problem is that there are families, Shepherds who come here to graze their flock or those employees who come here to work from different departments weather the forest department or tourism department they too have to face the same difficulties,” people of area said.
Locals from the Doodpathri area said that lack of these facilities turns tourists away from this tourist destination, adding that, It is not necessary that there is a covid19 right now but this place has been neglected for many years.
The residents have appealed to the administration to look into the matter and ensure mobile connectivity is made available at these places, saying that none among the outside or local tourist wants to stay here for night due to these problems.
Meanwhile, the locals also appealed to the administration to provide the basic network, and ATM facility at these places as soon as possible.
