In a heart wrenching incident which happened a few days ago three houses got burnt in city. While such incidents keep on happening and no one can guarantee even with the best safeguard mechanism a total immunity from such incidents it remains a matter of great debate whether the first responders in the fire service department could have given a speedy response.
Time and again it has been observed that during such incidents fire service departments could not be reached on time and usually when reached took them a great amount of time to reach the site of the incident.

It is a far cry from the first responders of some of the Indian metropolitan cities which act swiftly under those cases. One wonders how a thoroughly professional force like Jammu & Kashmir fire service department firemen take so long to scramble when it is their foremost duty to do so within a minute or so. One cannot overlook the fact that the sights of the incident sometimes are in a congested area where reaching is a feasibility question. But then that is one-third of Srinagar. The department has the requisite men and machinery to that end. What can then explain the reason to not reach the places of fire incidents on time?
We hope that such incidents do not happen and also we hope Jammu and Kashmir Fire Services department would be able to scramble men and machinery on time
