The traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was suspended on Monday due to fresh snowfall and shooting of stones from the hillocks overlooking the road, officials said.
Light snowfall occurred at Jawahar Tunnel, the gateway to Kashmir, while rains triggered shooting of stones from the hillocks at several places between Panthiyal and Ramsoo along the 270-km highway, forcing suspension of the traffic, the Traffic department officials said.

A traffic department official said that the roads have turned slippery due to snowfall while landslides have blocked the road at some places.
The official said that the traffic will be restored once the weather improves and the vehicles stranded on the highway will be cleared on priority.
