The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday authorised the deputy commissioners to take a call on the continuation of classes at schools in their respective districts.
An order issued by Deputy Secretary to the J&K government in the School Education Department, authorised the DCs, who also head the DDMAs on their respective districts to take a call on the continuation of classes at the schools in their jurisdictions.
“In view of issue, decision regarding running of physical classes vis a vis online classes requires to be taken at district level by the Competent Authority,” it reads.

“I am directed to convey that all the District Magistrates, Chairman of DDMAs of Kashmir and Jammu Divisions shall take a call on the continuation of academic activities that is physical classes or online classes in their respective jurisdiction, keeping in view the safety of the students and present trend of Pandemic COVID-19 in different districts,” it further reads.
This has been done keeping in view the safety of students amid a spike in infections in J&K.
