Gunfight rages in south Kashmir’s Anantnag

A gunfight broke out between Militants and Security forces at Kandipora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday.

Official sources said that, a joint team of government forcers including Police, army’s 3 RR and CRPF launched a search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

“Encounter has started at Kandipora Bijbehara area of Anantnag. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” tweeted Kashmir Police.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
