Agunfight has started between militants and armed forces personnel in Kanigam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.
Official sources said that a joint team of Police, Army’s RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Kanigam.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, ensuing a gunfight.
Sources added that exchange of gunfire between the joint team and the militants is underway.
