Gunfight rages in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Gunfight rages between militants and government forces in Badigam area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday evening.

Reports reaching Good Morning Kashmir said that a joint team of army’s RR and SOG cordoned off Badigam area after having credible input about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.

A senior Police official confirmed that some exchange of firing has taken place between militants and government forces in the area.

Initial exchange of fire took place and at present search operation is on in the area, he said
