Gunfight rages in Srinagar

Srinagar: A gunfight broke out in Malbagh area of Hazratbal belt in Srinagar district between militants and forces this evening.

Reports reaching Good Morning Kashmir said that a joint team of army’, SOG and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in Malbagh area of Hazratbal in Srinagar after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

 

“Encounter has started at #Malbagh area of #Srinagar. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow,” tweeted Kashmir Police.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected area the hiding militants fired upon searching party triggering an encounter.

A police officer also confirmed to Good Morning Kashmir and said contact has been established with hiding militants and firing from both sides is on.
