Srinagar: Heavy rain accompanied by winds in Kashmir on Thursday brought respite from the hot spell for the residents, bringing down the day temperature significantly.
Heavy rain and gusty winds were reported from Kashmir where the maximum temperature was mostly above normal, officials said.
The Meteorological department has predicted intermittent rains on Thursday and Friday in the valley.
However, the rains have brought down the temperature with the city recording the maximum Celsius since Wednesday.
The rain came as a pleasant surprise.
The other places in the valley also experienced huge relief from the hotter days due to the rains as the mercury went down by several degrees.
