Srinagar : Iltija Mufti, the daughter of Jammu and Kashmir’s detained leader Mehbooba Mufti, on Saturday alleged that she has not been allowed to visit the grave of her grandfather, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, a former Chief Minister of the state, had died on January 7, 2016. His grave is in the Anantnag district.

After the authorities denied permission for the visit, Iltija Mufti took to twitter and wrote; “Denied permission yet again to visit my grandfather’s grave in Bijbehara by @JmuKmrPolice. Odd that its safe enough for other SSG protectees inc 2 ex CMs to make trips to Gulmarg & Pahalgam but a security problem arises only in my case. @Sandeep_IPS_JKP why a different yardstick?”

“Citing COVID as a reason is an excuse. I have been denied permission since January. Im simply being punished for speaking against GOIs ruthless actions in J&K. Last I checked it was Ms Mufti who was detained under PSA, not both of us,” Iltija tweeted from her mother’s twitter handle.

Her mother, Mehbooba Mufti, who became the chief minister after the death of her father (Mufti Mohammad Syeed, has been under detention since August 4, a day before the Centre scrapped the Jammu and Kashmir’s special status ( Article 370) of the Constitution.
