JeM militant module busted in Anantnag: Police

Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have busted a module of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in southern Anantnag district by arresting a militant and a militant associate.

A police spokesperson said that acting upon a specific input that the Lashker-e- Mustafa (Parent Organization  Jai,sh- e- Mohammad) are contemplating an attack in Anantnag/ Bijbehara towns, joint multiple Nakas/MVCP were established by Army 3RR and Anantnag Police.

Police said that at one of the MVCP established  at  Donipora Bijbehera  and an Alto car K-10 bearing registration No. HP12C 0981 approached the Naka  and it was  signaled to stop and two persons boarding said car tried to escape but were apprehended tactfully.

According to police, on questioning they were identified as two freshly recruited militants  namely Imran Ahmed Hajam S/o Gh Nabi Hajam R/o Nathpora Khanabal and Irfan Ahmed Ahanger S/o Mohd Altaf R/o Nandpora  Khanabal and from their possession two Pistols along with three magazines and 116 rounds were recovered.

“During questioning they confessed that they have joined LeM outfit recently and divulged that LeM was  recently floated to give an impression that militancy in Kashmir is indigenous and not sponsored by Pakistan,” said a police spokesman.

According to Police, they further revealed  they are close associates of Hidayat Malik @Hasnain R/o Sharafpora Shopian self styled chief of LeM, Umer @ Wahid Khan R/o Shopian and  Aftab @Ali Bhai R/o Dachipora, and they were carrying racee  of the area to plant an IED in order to target security forces/Police , later on multiple raids were conducted at various locations and (4)  OGW’s namely,1.Bilal Ahmed Kumar S/o Mohd Abdullah R/o Haff Shopian 2. Tawfeeq Ahmed Lawey S/o Manzor Ahmed  R/o Pushwara Anantnag 3. Muzamil Ahmed Wani S/o Mohammed Amin Wani R/o Muniward Anantnag and 4. Aadil Ahmed Rather S/o Abdul Khaliq R/o Khandipari Harnag, affiliated with proscribed terror outfit JEM were arrested and following ammunition has been recovered from these OGW’s.

“Two hand grenades, 1 kg explosive material, and 30 Rds were recovered from his possession,” Police said and added that investigations were going on in both the cases.
