Anantnag: Despite the passage of three years now, Anantnag GMC lacks female ECG technicians and has became a cause of concern for scores of female patients to visit the private labs for these tests.

According to official sources, the lack or the scarcity of female technicians in ECG lab is a matter of concern for female patients and their attendants, who feel embarrassed at being examined by male technicians in GMC Anantnag.

A female patient said that she went to GMC Hospital Anantnag on Sunday evening after chest pain, where doctors prescribed ECG, but when she entered the ECG section, there was no female technician available to get her ECG done in hospital.

“It was an embarrassing moment for me, i refused to get my ECG done at the hands of a male technician and later i returned without getting my ECG done,” she said. Adding that we were forced to visit the private labs due to non availability of female technician’s in hospital.

Talking to the GMK, Medical Superintendent, GMC Anantnag, Mohd Iqbal said that we have only one female technician in GMC Anantnag, if we need it at night we are calling to sister assistant for ECG on that time, when asked about the lack of female technician’s in GMC Anantnag he said that there is no separate creation of ECG any where in hospital, they are from radiology department who are performing this duty.

MS, GMC Anantnag further said that, I will look into the matter and will solve the problem in hospital as soon as possible.
