Srinagar: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was blocked at Batote area of Ramban district once again on Tuesday morning, leaving hundreds of vehicles, trucks carrying essential commodities stranded.
The men and machinery are on the job and efforts are on to make the 270-km-long highway, the only all weather road linking Kashmir with the rest of the country, trafficable, officials said.
The highway was blocked around Tuesday early morning due to landslides and shooting stones from the hillocks at Batote area.
Officials said, the road clearance agencies rushed to the landslide hit areas to restore the highway.
“The restoration work will take time but we are hopeful of clearing the vehicles as soon as the landslides will be cleared,” officials said.
