Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha on Sunday categorically stated that there is no conspiracy in Jammu and Kashmir to change the demography of the UT.

Responding to a question on fears of a demographic change in the Valley, especially after the repeal of certain land laws and amendments,  LG Sinha said in J&K, 95 percent of land is agricultural. Nobody from outside J&K can buy agricultural land.

“95% of the land in Jammu and Kashmir is agricultural land, which only citizens from JK can buy or sell,” LG said. Adding that only 5% is government land, where we are in-building to establish industrial estates for the large unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Give me a single example of any outsider having bought land here. Since August 05, 2019, tell me a single name. I challenge anyone to name one person from outside who has bought land here. This is baseless,” he said.

Sinha stated that If anyone is found accused in illegal grants will face the heat, irrespective of who they are.

LG Sinha further said that there is a new belief in the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which has been inculcated in the last three to four months. This is due to the work done on the ground.
