Srinagar: Police arrested a man for allegedly killing his wife in Central Kashmir’s Kangan town of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Pertinently, the body of a woman was recovered from Nallah Sindh in Gonchi Mohalla of Akhal area of Kangan area on July 15 this month.

The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Rubeena Jan, wife of Abdul Majeed Khan of Gonchi Mohalla Akhal Kangan, who was missing since July 11, 2020.

Shortly after the incident police registered a case and set investigation into motion.

During the course of investigation, the husband of the deceased woman confessed his crime and said he killed his wife because of her ‘infidelity’.

U identified police sources were quoted as saying by news agency KNT that the husband of the woman during questioning claimed that it was the doubtful character of her wife which forced him to kill her and he took help of his brother for the crime.

The deceased was the resident of West Bengal. The accused Abdul Majeed had married her in West Bengal and brought her to Kashmir. He cast a doubt on her character and this lead to routine arguments between the two.

The accused during questioning claimed that her wife had an extra marital affair with a man in West Bengal and she was insisting him to visit Bengal. The accused was not ready to visit West Bengal and this created differences and acrimony between the couple.

SSP Ganderbal Khalil Poswal didn’t pick up the phone, however, SDPO Kangan, Sheikh Tahir told KNT that they have arrested two brothers for killing a woman. “Husband has confessed that he killed his wife for ‘infidelity’ and took assistance of his brother. Both the brothers are in lock-up,” he said.

Meanwhile, SSP Ganderbal while hailing the work of SDPO and SHO Kangan tweeted that: “At Police Station Kangan a drowning case of a lady namely Smt Rubeena W/o Abdul Majid Khan has been worked as murder to have committed by her husband.”
