ashmir based Media Houses on Saturday held an emergency meeting to discuss the unfavorable environment being created in the working of their organisations by some vested interests.
The meeting was attended by Printers, Publishers, Editors of some newspapers along with representatives of other publishing houses who deliberated and discussed various issues in detail at Press Club.
The issue of letters addressed to the officers of DIPR and others under forged signatures of GH Kaloo, President JK Press Association (Prez JKPA) remained under focus of the participants as such communications are not only brutal attack on Mr Kaloo but an attempt to deprive dozens of Media Houses of their means of sustenance.
As a matter of fact, the officers of the DIPR should not have taken any cognizance of the fake letters, but got them verified by the concerned organization.
It is worth mentioning that the matter is already under investigation of J&K Police and much headway has reportedly been made by the investigating agencies and it is expected that the persons involved in the conspiracy shall be identified.
Besides the members took serious notice of the highhandedness of the officials of the Estates Department, who have evicted the staff of the Kashmir News Service and locked its office without any advance notice.
Hence the UT Administration is urged to look into this issue to end harassment the said News Agency.
