Budgam: Budgam family Thursday refuted the claims of police that three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) were arrested from Chadoora saying one among the trio is their son who was picked up by police on July 13 from his home.
Pertinently, a statement attributed police went viral on social media yesterday in which police stated that it arrested three Over Ground Workers of militant outfit JeM from Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district. The trio arrested youth were identified as Javaid Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Pulwama, Ajaz Wani of Chitragam and Aqib Ganai of Khansaib.
“My son was arrested from our house on July 13, later, we met SHO Chadoora who also vouched for his innocence then we went to meet SSP Budgam who assured us that Ajaz will be released within two days,” said Haleema Begum, mother of Aijaz.
Head of the village while talking to Reporters said that Ajaz is a qualified person and didn’t have any criminal behaviour, adding that, he was arrested by police on 13 July and since then he was in police locke-up.
“This is baseless. He is innocent and we appeal to IGP Kashmir to do justice with the family. Whole village knows Ajaz is innocent,” said the family members of Aijaz.
SSP Budgam, Amod Nagpure when contacted, he refuted the family claims and said that “He (Aijaz) is a habitual offender, and is involved in stone pelting cases and terrorism related offences since 2018.”
“His family is claiming that he is innocent, but we have strong evidence against him,so now the law will take its course,” said SSP Budgam Amod Nagpure.
Meanwhile, The family of Ajaz urged IGP Kashmir for his intervention. “It’s all fake and fabricated. My son is innocent who should be released. He is our lone bread earner,” said Aijaz’s mother.
