Most of us do not even know when the last disease was declared as a global pandemic. We are living through unprecedented times. It seems that more than ever before we feel connected yet vulnerable and challenged. The COVID-19 pandemic is causing us to take extreme measures to protect lives including measures of social distancing, closure of schools, restriction of social gatherings and lockdowns of designated areas, it has crossed all barriers.
At a high cost, we are reminded of the risks to all human life when the higher-ups do not fulfil their responsibility to guarantee access to basic health. care and education. Countries are facing the challenge of ensuring the welfare of individuals who lack job security or a steady income.
In this regard one must appreciate the efforts of the establishment in being proactive enough to close down all schools in time. The role of the establishment has been worth applause in this case. However, regarding maintaining the basic hygiene in our hospitals remains a matter of concern. Even these days we observe scores of attendants swarming around patients in our hospitals-with a majority of them not wearing masks. The government must strictly adopt one patient, one attendant rule in this regard.
Besides, some of the schools in south Kashmir are still rumored to be open despite government directions. The government must crackdown on these schools as well.
The government must ensure that whosoever visits our hospitals is wearing a mask. Besides, government must maintain a strict discipline for those working in health department.
It is only with our collective effort that we can beat coronavirus. Let us all play our part well.
