esidents of Irfan Colony, Natipora locality here have decried inordinate delay in construction of drainage system in the area.
“Despite passing years, our area is without drainage system. After rains, our area turns into a cesspool”, said a local resident of Irfan Colony here.
The residents said that they have been visiting all the concerned departments from years together. “But nothing has been done so far. Our houses are on verge of collapse due to water accumulation. We have to walk through stinking water to reach main road. Children and elders are worst sufferers,” he said.
“From sector B to Sector C, there is no drainage system from years now, we even talked to the officials who look after the drainage system of city but nothing has been done so far,” said, Hassan Javed, president Mohalla committee Irfan Colony Sector C.
Interestingly, a concerned junior engineer (JE) of the area, Imtiyaz Ahmad told Good Morning Kashmir, “I requested residents of the Mohalla to provide a copy of the project estimate, so that further action could be initiated.”
The JE seems don’t have the knowledge of the estimated work for the area and ironically is seeking government documents from the locals.
