The mercury remained below normal in the Kashmir valley, where people enjoyed pleasant weather after about a week-long heat wave.
A Met department spokesman said Wednesday evening that there could be scattered rain and thundershowers in the valley during the past 24 hours. Isolated light rain and thundershowers could occur during the subsequent two days, he said.
The summer capital, Srinagar, recorded 26.7 degree maximum temperature, which was 1.7 degree below normal on Wednesday. The minimum temperature was 13.8 degree, one degree below normal, he said.
He said the sky would be partly cloudy to very light rain and thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 26 degree and 14 degree respectively in Srinagar during the next 24 hours.

Gulmarg, a world famous ski resort in north Kashmir, about 55 km from here recorded 15.2 degree maximum temperature which was 3.8 notches below normal while the minimum temperature was 6.4 degree,2.9 notches below normal after there was 5.2 mm rainfall since 0830 hrs to 1700 hrs today.
Pahalgam, famed health resort in south Kashmir recorded 20.4 degree, 3.7 notches below normal while the minimum temperature was 8.9 degree which was 0.4 degree below normal.
Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, which was closed today for weekly maintenance, recorded 25.7 degree maximum temperature, which was 1.3 notches below normal while the minimum temperature was 12.8 degree, 0.5 degree below normal.
Kokernag, a tourist resort in south Kashmir recorded 24 degree maximum temperature which was 2.1 degree below normal and minimum temperature was 12.2 degree,0.9 degree below normal.
He said Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded 26.5 degree maximum temperature which was 1.4 degree below normal while the minimum temperature was 11.8 degree, which was 0.4 degree above normal.
