n the occasion of Pakistan’s National Day, India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended his greetings to the people of Pakistan.
In a letter to his counterpart Imran Khan, PM Modi expressed that India desires cordial relations with Pakistan. However, he emphasized that to achieve it, an environment of trust, ‘devoid of terror and hostility’ is imperative.
The Indian top leadership had maintained the practice of greeting the people of Pakistan and its leaders on their national day on March 23 and Independence Day on August 14. This practice continued despite the Pulwama attack in 2019.
Notably, the letter comes as a second consecutive message by PM Modi to his Pakistani counterpart within a span of few days.
Last week, PM Modi extended a wish to Imran Khan for “speedy recovery” soon after the later tested positive for Coronavirus.
