Srinagar: One militant and the police’s ASI were killed in a gunbattle in Pantha Chowk area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar city on Saturday .
Around 9 pm, a joint operation of special operation group, Rashtriya Rifles and the CRPF cordoned off Pantha Chowk area after militants attacked on forces party in the area.
After the intelligence reports about the presence of militants in the same area, the security personnel zeroed in on a house.

“The militants opened fire at the search team, which was returned. The firefight continued for at least twenty minutes” said a police officer.
One militant was killed in the retaliatory fire. One police personnel identified as Babu Ram, was hit by the bullets. “The cop succumbed to his injuries later,” sources said.
More reinforcement was send to the spot and the operation was going on in the area.
Sources told the Good Morning Kashmir that there are one to two more militants trapped in the house.
