he dilapidated condition of Putukhah-Pachhar road in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has left the commuters anguished, who are up in the arms against the R&B department for failing to macadamize the road stretch.
The residents of Pachar, Chandoosa, Walraman, Verinar, Wahadatpora, Hudipora and Khaitangan area of the district accused Roads and Building Department (R&B) of subjecting them to inconvenience due to dilapidated condition of road.
As per the locals, the road has developed potholes that have become prone to accidents in the area. The department has not repaired the road from past 2 years.
Showket Ahmad, a local resident of Khaitangan said, “At least 50,000 people suffer as the road is in shambles. Authorities have failed to macdamise the road. It has developed huge potholes and has become unbearable for people to travel on this road.”
Another commuter from Wahadatpora told Good Morning Kashmir that the road also leads to Shrunz fall. The authorities could not bring this destination on the tourism map as it sans basic infrastructure.
Agitating locals told GMK that if the concerned authorities of R&B department don’t take urgent steps to carry out the repairs and macadamization on the road leading to Shrunz they will block the moment of the traffic on the road to protest against the concerned authorities.
Executive Engineer, R&B Baramulla told Good Morning Kashmir, “I will see and ensure necessary steps will be taken at the earliest.”
