he residents of a hugely populated Qamarwari area of Srinagar are aghast over the acute shortage of drinking water in their area.
Speaking to Good Morning Kashmir, Izhar Ahmad, a local resident said the area is facing an acute shortage of drinking water supply and the officials of the concerned Jal Shakti Department are paying a deaf ear to the inconvenience faced by the locals.
Residents in the area claim they do not have access to safe drinking water around the clock, requiring them to transport water in containers from neighbouring areas.
“We approached all senior authorities of the department for water supply restoration but to no effect,” they said.
“The rich areas enjoy round-the-clock water supply, but the common people like us have to deal with water shortages all the time,” said Basit Mir, a local resident.
The residents said that they have requested higher-ups of the Jal Shakti (P.H.E) department several times about the water shortage in their area and the enormous amount of difficulties that people have to face, but their requests have so far fallen to deaf ears.
They requested Chief Engineer P.H.E for its immediate intervention for the redressal of their problem and to restore sufficient drinking water supply in their area.
