ashmir is face to face with plethora of problems the worst one being the supply of electric power. During winters, the power supply becomes the first casualty. As you read this many areas in Kashmir are reeling under darkness. Winter is by nature a bad season for a poor man. The woolens are expensive and a person can not do without a proper heating arrangement. Students also suffer a great deal as their studies are impacted.
However, the biggest problems start when the power supply goes for a toss. There are still hundreds of villages and towns where frequent electricity cuts irks its residents.
What would a person do in such cold temperatures without proper power supply. How would a common man cook his meals? With what gadget would he keep his rooms warm? The rich have started their Hamams. What does a common man have?
We are talking of Kashmir which has huge hydroelectricity potential. Why can not Srinagar have a 24-hour electricity? Why can not we cook our meals, have baths with hot water and keep our rooms warm during winters?
The government needs to look towards this problem seriously. How many more dark nights shall a local Kashmiri endure?
