Srinagar based journalists have hailed the efforts of District Development Commissioner Srinagar regarding ‘non functioning’ of Kashmir Press Club and arranging fresh elections to elect the new body.
Kashmir Press Club came into being after years of hardwork and efforts ran into non functional mode immediately after last elections were held. Elected body including president of the club did nothing for which it was established, said one newspaper editor who prefered not to be named.
“The initiative of the DC is a step in the right direction and new elections under new interim body should be held immediately.” He said.
Pertinent to mention that elections were due eight months ago but the body wanted to delay it for some unknown reasons.
