Singing legend Gulzar Ganai opens studio to preserve rich musical heritage of Kashmir

Extending his passion for nurturing young talent, famous Kashmiri folk singer, Gulzar Ahmad Ganai has now launched the Gee Gee Folk Music Academy, to provide personalised folk musical training to youth.

A statement issued here by the academy reads, “GG Folk Music is going to start classes for the youth who want to learn Kashmiri folk music. In this regard, the youth are being informed through social media to enroll in this field to learn instruments and voices related to Kashmiri folk music.”

Ganai said many youths in the valley are interested in folk music but do not get a platform to develop their skills.

“I’m trying to change the scenario. I have created this academy so that the world gets to know about our folk music,” he said.
