Srinagar gunfight: Family of one slain militant hold protest, claim he was innocent

Family members of one of the three militants’ killed in Hokersar gunfight today claimed that their kin is not a militant and was killed in a “fake encounter.”

The family members and relatives of the slain militant identified as Aijaz Ahmed Ganie of Putrigam area of Pulwama district, have assembled outside PCR in Pulwama demanding the return of their kin’s dead body.

According to family member of slain, Aijaz left home a day ago to appear in examinations at university.

Accusing that their kin was killed in a “fake encounter”, the family is now demanding the return of Aijaz’s dead body from the police’s possession.

Police could not be immediately contacted for the comments.

The trio bodies as per the officials have been taken to Baramulla for burial with their family members allowed to participate in their last rites.
