Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu highway remained closed for the second consecutive day on Monday after heavy rains and snowfall in the Banihal section, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded at various places on the route, officials said.
The traffic on the highway was suspended on Sunday early morning after fresh snowfall near Jawahar Tunnel.
“Highway is closed. There have been landslides at various places of highway”, a traffic police official said.

As a result of which, over thousands of vehicles mostly trucks were stranded at various places on the highway, they said.
The 270-kilometres highway, the only all-weather road linking Kashmir with rest of the country, was closed around on Sunday, the officials said.
The officials said the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is working to clear snow from the highway.
