ailure of Roads and Buildings (R&B) department to undertake repairs of vital Sumkachbal-Syed Wari Khanyar road is taking a heavy toll on the commuters.
In absence of repairs, the road is dotted with dozens of potholes subjecting commuters to inconvenience.
“The dilapidated road poses a risk of accidents. Several vehicles have been damaged due to deep potholes. We have apprised the concerned authorities about the matter but to no action was taken,” said Shabir Ahmad, a resident of Syed Wari.
The locals said the road was macadamized years ago. “The road has caved in at several places. This has endangered the commuters. It is ironic that the Road and Buildings department has failed to take measures to even fill up the potholes to prevent accidents on the busy stretch,” they said.
They appealed to the Lt Governor led administration to look into the matter.
