Third militant killed in Sopore gunfight, operation over

Srinagar: One more militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight in Reban village of Sopore town in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, thus taking the toll of killed militants to three.

“02 more unidentified terrorists killed (total 03). Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on. Further details shall follow,” tweeted Kashmir Police.

The gunfight broke out between militants and government forces after a team of government forces including Army’s 22-RR, SOG and CRPF, 92 BTN, Baramulla QRT and Police cordoned off the Reban village.

As the forces intensified the searches, the hiding militants in the area opened fire, leading to a gun fight which was going on when last reports came in.

Official sources said that, one more militant body has been recovered from the gunfight site. Adding that the identity of trio slain militants is yet to be ascertained.
