Human being is bestowed with innumerable gifts by his creator so that he could take every possible benefit from the other creations of the world. The real power of being human is acknowledged through the precious gift of his tongue, which others could not. Human being has been created with an excellent power of speech, which makes him far better than other animals on the planet, earth.
Power of human tongue is considered mighty power to which humans could be treated as the ideal creation of God. It is the power of tongue which differentiates him from other animals. Human beings are given the power to rule and subjugate the animal and plant kingdom on the globe due his speaking ability. The gesture of human tongue may do good to millions and at the same time it may prove hazardous to billions.
The power of speech gives him ability to attain innumerable benefits. The right words chosen by the human tongue could save him from many disasters and evils. Good words uttered from the tongue makes him altogether a different person. By his chosen words, he witnesses altogether a different personality inside him. The use of good words is necessary for building up a good character.
The words spoken by human tongue could effect many lives, that is why we need to think before speaking. As it is common proverb,” think before you speak”. Obviously ,the real character of a person is recognised by his/her behaviour and every good behaviour is the part of his chosen words. There are many instances and occasions when people lost fame and faith due to illness of speech and words. Most of the time, we lose our reputation due to our wrong and ill use of tongue. The evilness of tongue could snatch a person from every single goodness. Let it may be a nonsense version of talk or other evils of tongue. So we need to think thousand times before uttering a single word from our mouth.
There are various conflicts in our societies arising out of our unusual and nonsense course of talk. Our talk has a power to do good to many and at the same time it would destroy the facts and figures of a person. The evilness of tongue can deteriorate family relationships as well as our social setups. One must say that it is tongue which has divided nations and countries and many disputes had taken place because of evils of tongue.
The other major evils of our tongue are backbiting, obscene talk, scandal mongering, mockery, lying etc. Such evils of our tongue are the most dreadful sins in our society that have teared apart the moral characters of individuals. The evils of tongue prepared individuals without any class and manner. The way out of our generation in terms of speech is like a huge catastrophe and disaster. People have become addicted to impolite and disgusting manner of language. We have closed all doors of happiness due to grudges in speaking. Every time people are seen busy in backbiting, lying and mocking others. Such menaces have become the usual talk of our day. With out mocking others, we thought our day has not been fulfilled.

The evils of our tongue can damage us mentally as well as physically. In other words, we can say that most of the time people are busy with impoliteness of speech and language. Our chosen set of words had a frequency which throws huge impression of our personality to others. Most of the time we have witnessed that every dispute and disturbance is the output of our speech. The evilness of speech has set fire on innumerable happy homes.
Believe me the major evils of the societies are interconnected with evils of tongue. Believe me, sometimes we talk of such a nonsense which hurts sentiments of others and we never try to see it’s effects on them. Even we don’t bother to care the emotions of others.In our religion Islam, it is also mentioned that such people lose their status in the eye’s of Lord, the creator. In one of the Hadith, it is mentioned that if you want to talk, talk good, otherwise don’t.
Talking with nonsense will create a vacuum in our personality. It is also a famous proverb, that empty vessels make much noise”. Excessive talk is always prohibited in Islam. The person who talks excessively degrades his status in the eyes of His creator. Undue words are very hazardous to our personality building. It creates barrier in attaining any salvation. Excessive talk without making any sense will loose you as a person for someone. Believe me evil of tongue makes a person altogether a crook fellow.
The best character of a person is recognised by his/her goodness in words. The politeness in words determines levels of dignity and respect. Sometimes, people talk such foolish things which reduces all the self respect in no time. Believe me, we disturb all our relationships with families, friends and other near ones due to our evils of tongue. It is shocking that most of the time we indulge at discussing the faults of others with undue reasons. To make fun of others, we try to roast the personality of our near and dear ones.
For the sake of our fun, we try to imitate and roast others by doing mimicry, imitation, without even thinking what would be it’s effects and results. For a while, we don’t even bother about the causes and consequences arising from such evil talks. Backbiting, scandal mongering, teasing, imitating, lying etc. are the worst evils of our tongue. Do you know, that by our evils of tongue, we purchase hell fire instead of a paradise. Ye, it is true. In one of the Hadith, it is narrated that on the day of judgement, a person who would have achieved the rank in the paradise but unfortunately would be throw into the hellfire due to his evils of tongue.
That is why, it is also mentioned in the Holly Quarran, that most of the people shall become the firewood of hell due to their evils of tongue. Indulging in mockery takes a person very far away from the way of truthfulness. One of the sufi saint has stated that, verily I would have seen some fault in a person , and would have spoken about it infront of others, but what stops me is that i have a big fear that i would also be put into the same test. All the reliable sources of religious testimonies strongly prohibits and condemns all evils of tongue. Sometimes we try to expose faults of others on social media, sharing it on the social media is really a big concern. We don’t think a while, same could be happened to us. And may be we also could be tested in the same way.
The evils of tongue bereft us from achieving any sign of goodness. It keeps us away from attaining any salvation. We lose our image and reputation due to scandal mongering and other evils of tongue. Excessive talking is the major headache and unending foolishness. Talking without sense makes us senseless and mentally insane and we become null. We loose self respect and our moral values. Believe me there is a great power in silence.
Silence is a great antidote to all evils of tongue. Believe me, it is the mere solution to all problems, tensions and crisis. Try to remain silent and have patience at listening to others. Try to become passive listeners. We will see a great change in our behaviours and will learn new things with ease. There is a great power in keeping yourself silent rather than indulging in unnecessary talks. Believe me, we will see a great change inside us, if we try to practice hours of silence. It will purify our hearts and minds and will generate new ideas inside us with sensible thoughts. Besides all, silence has a great power to purify our thoughts. It regenerates new energy inside us, making us altogether a very good person. Moreover it sets a plate form for us where we reach close to our creator.
At the end, i would like to have your attention, please think for a while, as responsible members of the society, where we are heading towards and what is our individual contribution? It is really a million dollar question!
For God’s sake, hold thy tongue!
