he Jammu and Kashmir administration deserves appreciation. It has met a long pending demand of people and launched a drive to macadamize all roads in towns and cities. Since the road network seems the first priority, the UT administration must now look beyond the towns and cities since the majority of the population resides in rural areas. The administration should focus now on the dilapidated condition of the village roads. The majority of the village roads are now craving for immediate attention of the concerned departments. The roads in Villages are in bad shape, mostly in parts of north Kashmir, even though the roads in upper areas of the Baramulla are also in the same condition. Due to the bad condition of roads in villages, the people are suffering immensely, while the condition of private vehicles only deteriorates with every passing day. The administration must start repairing and macadamization of the roads now that the summer is at its peak. There is a need for making travellers’ daily travels a bit easier, and smooth, which is as of now bumpy in rural areas.

The main NH from Zangam to Pattan is also in a bad condition. Big pot holes can be seen in the middle of the highway, making commuting a daring job. Another road connecting the Wagoora area to the Putukhah highway is also in its worst condition. The bad condition of roads, not only gives the commuters a tough time, but it also consumes a lot of their time in reaching from one place to another. The condition of the link road in Nihalpora, just two kilometres from Pattan town is also known to everyone, the authorities have not bothered to macadamize the inner link roads of the village. Same can be seen in the localities in South Kashmir parts where the roads are filled with huge potholes. Apart from taking care of rural roads, there is also a need for cleaning lanes in towns to provide foul less walk. The administration and other concerned departments must make sure that the drains and lanes are kept cleaned and are maintained .
