itiligo, a medical condition where the skin loses its colour and the white patches appear on skin. This is the unambiguously accepted presentation of vitiligo. But for the person surviving with this, it’s an “Emotional Sapping” disease where a person faces embarrassment, negative emotions and shame. They are prejudiced as having bad skin. People’s glances made them hate their skin. I decided to scribble as women are confronted more with the prejudices of beauty.
So while writing, countless emotions are there as I myself have gone through all this. It has been with me since my childhood. And no matter where I go people only talk about it like ” ohh those white pigments”, “have you sought any treatment for it”, “you should probably consult this Doctor or Peer” whatever, otherwise you will not get a good husband.

They really talk about what a pity it was that I had vitiligo with such a pretty face. But the judgements or suggestions from such narrow minded folks never bothered me. Since I believe our life is constructed through our education, discipline, character and diligence. The colour of skin doesn’t define a person. But the most confusing thing for me is since I was brought up like this but the social setup around is so stressful and miserable as people are judged for their skin. They are reduced just to a person with vitiligo not a person with a soul, feelings and heart.
The person with vitiligo needs to raise their consciousness , not to expect from someone. Self consciousness and self expression is more important than being scared or embarrassed.
