Woman allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws in south Kashmir

A woman was allegedly set ablaze by her-in-laws in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday while the local residents from her native village staged a protest and demanded action against the involved persons.

A 28-year-old woman, mother of two children, was allegedly set ablaze by her in-laws in Akura area of Mattan following which she was rushed to a nearby hospital where from she was shifted to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.

Soon after the news broke, the residents of her native village as per KNO staged a protest and demanded action against the culprits and justice to the victim.

They alleged that her husband was trying to marry another woman due to which he took this inhuman step and he must be dealt as per law. They also requested District Magistrate Anantnag and police to act swiftly and take culprits to the task.

A police officer said that a case under FIR number 15/2021 has been registered at Police Station and investigation has been taken up, adding that the culprits will be dealt strictly and will ensure justice to the victim.
