Woman Contracted To Work For Apple: Loses Job After Posting TikTok Video About Her Day

Former Apple contractor Nylah Boone is voicing her worries after being fired as a result of a popular TikTok video that has gone viral online. Nearly 400,000 people have seen the video titled “Day in the life of a Black girl working in IT,” and hundreds of comments have been left asking Boone

for career advice and highlighting some of her everyday activities, which include working as an Apple contractual employee. The film, which was shot in April, showed her office space inside one of Apple’s facilities but did not divulge any corporate secrets. Boone unexpectedly lost herjob in May when Apple decided not to renew her contract. Boone had also used her time as a TikTok creator to highlight other unrelated vlogs. According to Boone in her interview with The Verge, the majority of her followers and those who got in touch with her or left comments on her posts were Black women.

Being able to connect with other Black women and inspire them was crucial to me. In an interview with The Verge, she also noted that her goal was to demonstrate to other women of colour that a career in technology was a possibility for them as well. Her goals were to assist computer behemoths likeApple in hiring a more diverse workforce, but the results fell short of her expectations. In accordance with the terms of their employment agreements and business policies, Apple normally forbids employees from distributing video taken within the firm’s offices. This could possibly refer to NDA agreements,

which the business is said to have used in the past. Although Boone is rumoured to have moved on to another position at a marketing agency, it undoubtedly causes someone else to pause before creating certain content in specific workplaces.
