There is a general observation that sports as a way of life has vastly been overlooked in Kashmir. Some observers believe it is due to sponsors not willing to contribute from their end for something as mundane an activity like sports. Otherwise believe that sports is somewhere there in the periphery or flanks and when the very center of development is shaky there is very little chance of it being given due care.
Even though we have produced individual contributors who by their hard work and dedication stood out in many national and international events. While it is important that we celebrate their success but at the same time we have to think about why the sports infrastructure can not be made very structured and fully functional. Why is there no planning on how the funds meant for sports are utilized?
There have been massive allegations of shady deals happening for long. However, the people involved are often conveniently brushed.

Similar allegations of corruption have been leveled against other sports associations from time to time. The biggest sufferers of these scams are the young, ambitious athletes and sportsmen who work hard everyday just to be a sports star someday.
The callous attitude of the concerned wings towards the development of the sports has also been brought to question time and again
There has been a clear lack of initiatives. What is stopping the present dispensation from making Srinagar a sports city like Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Chandigarh. Sports is an index of the health of the society. If sports infrastructure is not good that means something is awfully wrong with the whole establishment
